The Role
You will be producing detailed shop drawings and cut lists for custom cabinetry projects using Cabinet Vision. Working from designer elevations, architectural drawings, and project specifications, you translate design intent into precise, buildable documentation for our shop and installation teams.
Accuracy in your drawings has a direct impact on everything that follows — what gets built, how it gets installed, and whether the finished product meets the standard of the homes we work in. We are looking for someone who understands that chain of responsibility and takes it seriously.
What the work involves
- Producing shop drawings, elevations, and cut lists in Cabinet Vision for custom cabinetry projects
- Reading and interpreting architectural drawings, designer elevations, and project specifications
- Identifying constructibility issues, clearance conflicts, and drawing errors before they reach the shop floor
- Coordinating with project managers and designers to resolve unclear or incomplete specifications
- Managing drawings across multiple active projects simultaneously, meeting production schedule deadlines
- Maintaining organized, version-controlled drawing files throughout the project lifecycle
What we're looking for
- Proficiency in Cabinet Vision — required; please indicate version and years of experience in your email
- Experience producing shop drawings for custom or semi-custom cabinetry in a professional environment
- Ability to read architectural and interior design drawings accurately
- Strong spatial reasoning — you can identify issues in a drawing before they become issues in the field
- Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects under deadline
- Clear written and verbal communication — you ask the right questions and document decisions
Questions to answer in your email
When you write to us, please include your resume and answers to the following questions. Specific answers that draw on real examples carry far more weight than general ones.
- Which version of Cabinet Vision are you currently using, and how many years have you been working with it professionally?
- Describe the types of projects you have drafted — scale, complexity, custom vs. semi-custom, and how many active jobs you typically manage at once.
- Tell me about a time you caught a constructibility issue or conflict in a set of drawings before it reached the shop. What was it and how did you resolve it?
- How do you handle situations where the designer's intent is unclear or the drawings you receive are incomplete?
- Describe your process for reviewing your own work before submitting drawings to production.
- How do you stay organized and prioritize when multiple projects have competing deadlines?
- What other drafting or design software are you familiar with beyond Cabinet Vision?
