Santa Ana: H & J's home base

We have operated our cabinet-making workshop in Santa Ana since 1988. The city has been the center of Orange County's craft and manufacturing tradition for generations, and it is where we have built the skills, the team, and the production capacity to serve clients throughout Southern California. When we say our cabinets are built in Orange County, we mean they are built in Santa Ana — by our craftsmen, in our shop, to our standard.

Learn more about our history and the people who make up H & J on our about page. The story of how we got here is inseparable from Santa Ana's own tradition of skilled trades and craft manufacturing.

Santa Ana's cabinetry tradition

Santa Ana has a deep history of skilled craftsmen and furniture makers. The city's workforce includes some of the most skilled finish carpenters and cabinet builders in the region — a tradition that H & J has contributed to and benefited from for nearly four decades. The cabinet makers who build in our shop are experienced, permanently employed craftsmen, not day laborers or subcontractors.

Many of our craftsmen have been with us for a decade or more. That continuity is not incidental — it is how craft knowledge accumulates and how consistent quality is maintained across hundreds of projects over time.

"Every cabinet that leaves our shop has been built by craftsmen who will still be here next year. That continuity is part of what we are."

Serving Santa Ana homeowners

Santa Ana is a diverse city with a wide range of housing types — from historic craftsman bungalows and midcentury ranches in older neighborhoods to newer single-family homes and condominiums in developing areas. Custom cabinetry in Santa Ana spans the same range: full kitchen renovations, bathroom vanity upgrades, built-in storage, and closet systems.

We are neighbors to our Santa Ana clients, and we treat those projects with the same care we bring to any project in the region. A kitchen renovation in Santa Ana gets the same shop drawings, the same production standard, and the same installation quality as a project in Newport Beach or Laguna Beach.

The workshop advantage for Santa Ana projects

Because our workshop is in Santa Ana, the practical logistics of a local project are exceptionally straightforward. Site visits take 15 minutes. Delivery requires no long-haul logistics. If an on-site adjustment is needed during installation, we can have a craftsman there the same day. This proximity is a real advantage that translates directly to project efficiency and responsiveness.

For Santa Ana clients who want to see where their cabinets will be built, we offer workshop tours by appointment. Contact us to schedule a visit. Seeing the production environment — the tools, the materials, the craftsmen at work — changes how clients think about what they are commissioning.

Types of Santa Ana projects we build

Kitchen renovations are the most common scope in Santa Ana. A full custom kitchen replacement — removing original cabinetry and installing all-new custom cabinets — runs $30,000–$70,000 depending on size and specification. Bathroom vanity upgrades, home office built-ins, and closet systems are also commonly added at the time of a kitchen renovation or as standalone projects.

Material choices for Santa Ana homes

Santa Ana's climate is warm and dry — inland from the coast, which means less salt air exposure than coastal communities but more thermal variation seasonally. For kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, we use the same materials as for any other project: furniture-grade plywood boxes, solid hardwood face frames, and professionally applied finishes.

The thermal variation in Santa Ana is within the normal range for our standard construction — no special accommodation is required. Our face-frame construction method provides the structural stability to handle seasonal wood movement without door alignment or drawer fit issues developing over time.

A note on craftsmanship and community

We have been part of Santa Ana's working community for over 35 years. The craftsmen who build in our shop have families in this city; many have worked with us for a decade or more. The quality of what we build is inseparable from the pride of the people who build it.

A Santa Ana project is not a satellite job for us — it is home territory. The care that comes from building for your own community is something that is felt in the work, even if it is not something that shows up in a specification sheet.

Starting a Santa Ana project

Contact us to schedule a site visit. We will come to your home, take measurements, discuss your priorities, and give you an honest assessment of scope, timeline, and budget. Our workshop is open for tours by appointment if you would like to see where your cabinets will be built before committing to a project.

There is no cost for the initial consultation, and there is no pressure at any stage of the conversation. Our goal at the initial meeting is to understand your project well enough to tell you whether we are the right fit — and if we are, how to move forward from there.
