About This Residence

Material Dialogue in a Contemporary Home

Harbor Ridge presented a distinctive design brief: create contemporary cabinetry that could stand alongside exotic stone countertops and reclaimed wood accents without competing with them. The answer was material precision — solid wood drawer fronts and door panels that speak the same language as the Mozambique and reclaimed white oak surfaces surrounding them.

Set within the gated Harbor Ridge community of Newport Beach, this residence required cabinetry that could hold up to daily life while maintaining the design purity the owners demanded. H & J specified solid-wood construction throughout — no shortcuts on drawer boxes, no hollow door cores. Every component was built to the same standard, regardless of whether it faces a camera or a cabinet interior.

The kitchen cabinetry flows through each space providing storage solutions that are invisible in their integration and effortless in operation. Soft-close mechanisms, custom pull-out systems, and flush panel refrigerator surrounds were all engineered to disappear into the architecture. H & J's face-frame construction method provides the structural backbone that keeps everything operating precisely through years of heavy use.

Material quality runs through every element of this project — it is not a veneer over standard construction, but a genuine commitment to building things that last. For high-demand contemporary homes in Newport Beach and across Orange County, this is the standard H & J holds every project to.
