The Lido Island Residence gave H & J Cabinets a canvas where traditional cabinetry and coastal informality could coexist beautifully, without either quality diluting the other.
The primary cabinet material is rift white oak — a species chosen for its straight, consistent grain, which reads as refined without being rigid. Traditional details — recessed panels, custom moulding profiles, and period-appropriate hardware — were applied with care, keeping the design rooted in craft tradition while remaining appropriate to a light-filled beach home. Painted finishes on selected upper cabinets introduce a freshness that suits the coastal setting.
One of the more distinctive elements of this project is the density of hidden functional details woven into the design. Custom pull-out pantry systems, concealed appliance garages, and integrated lighting were all designed to disappear entirely when not in use. H & J's production team executed each of these details to the same standard as the visible surfaces — because hidden craftsmanship is still craftsmanship.
