The Port Streets neighborhood of Newport Beach is known for its family-oriented streets and its community of homes that balance livability with design ambition. The Port Streets Residence gave H & J Cabinets a brief that was both demanding and nuanced: create modern cabinetry incorporating glass and metal accents within a cool white finish palette, resulting in a look that is simultaneously sleek and warm.
The kitchen cabinetry is the heart of this project — a composition of cool white lacquered panels, integrated glass-front upper cabinets, and metal accents that catch light throughout the day. The blend of contemporary and transitional references was achieved not through ornament, but through material layering. Each element was designed to coexist without competing.
H & J's framed construction provides the structural rigor that allows this kind of precision detailing to survive years of active family use. Glass-front cabinets require perfect door alignment; metal accents require precise reveals. Both depend on a cabinet box built to tolerance rather than approximation.
